The Greenway subcommittee reviewed the draft
Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) Recreational
Trails Program (RTP) grant application, written on behalf of the MRC by
Brett Bibeau, Assistant Director. If
awarded, the FDEP RTP grant would partially fund the Miami River
Greenway at the 2000 year-old “Miami Circle” site.
Lavinia Freeman, Trust for Public Land (TPL), stated she thought
the application looked good, and would probably be awarded.
Bibeau thanked TPL, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural
Affairs, the Honorable Mayor Alex Penelas, and the Department of
State’s Division of Historical Resources, for providing several of the
application’s required attachments.
The Greenway subcommittee restated strong support of the Miami
River Commission’s FDEP RTP application, to fund the Miami River
Greenway at the ancient “Miami Circle” site. The meeting was adjourned at 11 am |
