submitted by Brett Bibeau, on behalf of the Miami River Commission, were
awarded. The Tourist
Development Council awarded the Miami River Commission $8,000, and the
Community Grant was awarded $4,500 to partially fund Miami Riverday
2001. Brett Bibeau
submitted the EPA and Empowerment Trust grant applications to partially
fund the Miami River Corridor Urban Infill plans,, and the awards are
pending. Brett Bibeau informed the Grant
Investigation Working Group that the Miami River Commission Executive
Committee had instructed him to apply for Riverwalk funding.
The Federal Transportation TEA-21 grant was chosen because it
offers the largest awards available for riverwalks.
The application is due May 18, 2001.
Lavinia Freeman, Trust for Public Land, agreed to partner with
Bibeau in applying for the TEA-21, riverwalk funding. The Grant Investigation Subcommittee
decided to recommend the Miami River Commission pass a resolution at
their upcoming April 9, 2001 meeting, requesting the City of Miami

Wagner Homestead and Fort Dallas, located in riverside Lummus Park.
The grants will soon expire if the allocations remain
uncontracted. |
