    GRANT INVESTIGATION SUBCOMMITTEE MINUTES:

 The Miami River Commission Grant Investigation Subcommittee met on June 25, 2001, noon, Rosenstiel School, 4600 Rickenbacker Causeway.  Dr. Ernest Martin chaired the meeting attended by Brett Bibeau, Miami River Commission, and Lavinia Freeman, Trust for Public land.

 

 The grant matrix was updated.  Brett Bibeau’s applications, on behalf of the Miami River Commission, for Miami River Corridor Urban Infill Planning funding were awarded $45,000.  The Trust for Public Land was awarded $2.5 million for Miami River Greenway development.  The Miami River Commission, Trust for Public Land, and the City of Miami submitted a $1 million application, which is pending, to fund the East Little Havana section of the Miami River Greenway.

Brett Bibeau provided several upcoming grant opportunities for review.  The Grant investigation subcommittee chose to apply for the Florida Forever Program, which has $66,000,000 available this funding cycle for “open space and outdoor recreation purposes.”  The application is due August 13, 2001.
