The Urban Infill
Subcommittee revised the draft scope of services for the Miami River
Corridor Urban Infill Plan. After
incorporating the revisions identified in the meeting, the draft scope
of services will be presented to the Miami River Commission’s
Executive Subcommittee for final approval on June 25, 2001.
The Plan’s title is, “Miami River Corridor Plan; An Urban
Infill and Redevelopment Planning Initiative”. The Miami River
Corridor Plan Joint Planning Agreement has been fully executed by the
City and County. On June
14, 2001 the City Commission unanimously authorized, “The City Manager
to execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Miami River
Commission, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to develop and
implement the Miami River Corridor Urban Infill and Redevelopment
Plan…and further authorizing $50,000 from the proceeds of the contract
between the City of Miami and the Department of Community Affairs to
compensate the Miami River Commission”.
The Urban Infill Subcommittee had expected to review the MOU
during this meeting and subsequently forward it to the Miami River
Commission’s Executive subcommittee on June 25.
Sara Ingle, City of Miami, stated the City of Miami’s Legal
Department has reassigned the MOU’s review to another Assistant City
Attorney, who hasn’t reviewed the draft MOU yet, therefore it will be
impossible to bring it before the MRC’s Executive Subcommittee on June
25. Ms. Ingle stated she
believes it will be reviewed by the City Legal Department and made
available for the Miami River Commission’s approval prior to the next
MRC meeting on July 9, 2001. The Urban Infill Subcommittee discussed methods of publicly noticing future Planning workshops. The City of Miami and Miami River Commission are going to ask the Biscayne Bay Tribune, New Times, Brickell Post, Miami Today, and the World City News if they would be willing to print announcements of future public workshops free of charge. |
